Graff straightened, "Yes sirs, I'll file a report with my CO about some sort of emergency with the transporter conduits. Wouldn't be the first time." Graff smiled. " If you don't mind Captain Jade, I'll grab my kit. I would feel safer if I had a phaser and armor. I double as chief security officer on the Chamberlin so I can get it replicated at the nearest weapons locker."

"No problem," Krystal replied before tapping her commbadge. "Jade to Lexington. Tala, you awake?"
"No, I was having a nice dream about a hunky human man," was the reply. The tone clearly indicated it was a joke. "What's up Krys?"
"Do a sweep of the ship for anything out of the ordinary. I don't care if it's the carpet needing to be straightened out. I want to know. Also run a check on the ship's computer for any anomalous programs or anything."
    "Sounds serious. You expecting trouble?"
"Maybe. Possible Foothold, Sierra Gulf Charlie."

The woman on the other end didn't respond for a moment before giving a short affirmative and signing off.

Nat raised an eyebrow. "Sierra Gulf Charlie?"

"Something from one of my holoprograms," Krystal replied. "But it got the message across."

Graff headed for a weapons locker, retrieved a hand phaser and phaser rifle, body armor and personal shield generator. He then followed the others to the Lexington, "It pays to be prepared!" He said, noticing the others stares.

    Nat shrugged. "That's true."

As Captain Elric was walking, he couldn't shake his own incessant curiosity. There was something about the fragmented data's described dimensions and composition that he just couldn't pin. Elric was certain he was seeing familiarity to what he surmised were extrapolated scans on the PADD in his hands.

"Excuse me for a moment," he said to the others, apologetically. "Please continue to the briefing. I'll meet you there."

Instead of heading to Deck 47's giant transporter pad, he turned and headed for the turbolifts.

goes with Graff and collects a hand phaser before returning to the group.

    ...

As she follows Nat and Krystal she taps her combadge.
"Banks to Lab 4. Oh hello T'Pia, that you? It looks like this, you know, the medical question, is going to take longer than I expected. I'm reassigned until further notice so you'll have to do without me from now on. There's a batch of bloods for Dr Novotny in fridge two, can somebody deal with them? ...Good, thanks. ...I don't know why I've been reassigned. Just the lady's case is a bit complicated and they don't know how long they'll want me, that's all. ...Sorry, I can't really go into that, patient confidentiality and all that, OK? OK thanks, you're a star. See you when I see you."
She breaks the connection, muttering something about "ears twitching as always".

She watches Elric leave and wonders whether she ought to go but carries on, not wanting to risk missing any of the briefing...

Krystal led the group to where the Lexington was docked. At the airlock was an attractive youung Andorian woman leaning aginst the wall.
"Took you long enough sir," she said. The pips on her Sierra 1 uniform identified her as a Commander.
"Stopped to pick flowers by the latrine," Krystal replied with a smile before shaking her head. "Good to be back Tala."
"Yea... here's the report you wanted," Tala said, handing over a PADD. "Dee used her special trick. Stem to stern. Nothing out of the ordinary."
"Anyone tried accessing the ship with my command codes yet?"
    "No sir."
"Good. I'll need to take care of that as soon as possible. Nat, take everyone and get something to drink or something in the crew lounge. I'll be down to get you in a few," Krystal said.

Nat replied. "Sovereigns have plenty of lounges, you know. Which one did you have in mind?"
  • rattler2rattler2 Posts: 34,126Member Arc User
"Main one at the bow of the ship," Krystal replied. "Kinda set up like a cafe, so its pretty comfortable. I swear Deunan even made a fake fireplace for it."

Graff walked with the others to the lounge, once there, he found a corner and propped himself up.

Nat sat down, carefully eyeing everyone else in the room, making sure no one else was listening in on them, and glancing around for any listening devices that may have been set up.

Elric stepped into the storage facility next to Spacedock's security office. He accessed the database and located Storage Locker 38. After inputting his clearance code, the small door along the wall opened and he took out an average-sized medallion.

"Well, that's something," he said to himself. "The etchings on its front appear to be of an alien god, similar to the data on the PADD, similar to a stone tablet that was recently discovered on Leora IV."

He turned it over and noticed its back contained grooved teeth as if it was part of a mechanism. Further study would be needed, but he had a meeting to get to.

After a few minutes, Krystal came down to the lounge and got herself a drink before joining Nat.

Nat turned to Krystal. "Hey. Nice ship you've got here."
  • rattler2rattler2 Posts: 34,126Member Arc User
Krystal smiled as she sat down.
"Thanks," she replied. "She's more than just a ship though. She's a home. Take a ship out you don't love... she'll shake you up. If you love her... she'll fight for you and bring you back. Its just... one of those mysteries of the universe I guess. I swear we've gotten out of scrapes that should have killed us more times than not."

Nat nodded. "Had a lot of interesting times on the Firestorm myself. It's probably gone now, back in my universe. Who knows... word has it this universe's version isn't too different..."

"I wouldn't know," Krystal replied with a shrug.

"I figured as much, but from what he's told me, they're not too different." 11 of 14 got a pizza from the replicator, then came back. "Trust me, I know anything and everything about the Firestorm."

Graff listened to the Captains talk, day dreaming of the time he would get his own ship. "The Chamberlin is nothing like this ship. It's cold and dreary. You can tell its be built for utility, not, anything else."

Elric made his way through Earth Spacedock to the transporter pad on Deck 47. He nodded to the operator when Elric was suddenly dematerialized, instead, by a non-Starfleet confinement beam.
